Origin of Parakkat Tharavad

Continuation from page 1
With the advent of the Land Reform Act, a situation prevailed in the family where we had no constituted body to arrange for all tharavattu poojas in accordance with the traditional customs and practices. The common properties marked for performing poojas were lost after the implementation if the tenancy Act. This adversely affected the performance of periodical poojas.

It was at this juncture that late Sri. Parakkat Chandra Sekhara Menon took upadesam from Kanchi Kamakshi mutt, Kanchipuram and poojas were restarted by him. He did a good job for more than two decades at the Kamakshi Amma Sanidhi. Subsequently the family felt the need for a duly constituted body for arranging poojas. A move was made for constituting a Trust for the conduct of traditional poojas and a Trust namely “PARAKKAT KANJI KAMAKSHI AMMA TRUST” came into force on 21 January 1993 after completion of the relevant legal formalities.
